"If we wait until we're ready, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives"
Hi! My name is Zowie Darwin and I am currently a senior at Frisco High School. I am an academically focused student who tries to continuously challenge myself by taking AP level classes. I am also an active member of my community and spend a lot of my free time volunteering and tutoring fellow students. I have a passion for learning about medicine, which has inspired me to study Anesthesiology this year in the ISM program.
Throughout this year in ISM, I aspire to learn as much as possible about Anesthesiology and the medical field. I will challenge myself to take advantage of this learning opportunity by taking initiative in my study and research. I hope to use the knowledge and experience gained to propel me into future research and to help me grow as an individual and hopeful medical student.
Independent Study and Mentorship is a program that allows high school students to gain real-life experience in their study of choice. Applicants submit their grades, essay, and teacher letters of recommendation the school year before and are then chosen for an interview before the final decision.
ISM gives students a unique view down their desired career path and allows them to make connections with professionals in the field. Students in ISM will then complete a final product using the extensive knowledge and experience gained from the program. ISM is an incredibly beneficial program that allows students to explore their area of study, conduct research, enhance their communication skills in a unique and realistic enviroment.
